Baie-Comeau`s industrial history is intertwined with its identity, as it was founded around a pulp and paper mill. The historic Maison Otis stands as a testament to this heritage. However, the town’s beauty extends beyond its past, with the stunning Parc des Pionniers and the peaceful Jardins de l’église offering green oases for relaxation. For the culturally inclined, the Musée de la Nature offers insight into the region`s flora and fauna, while the Jardin des Glaciers showcases interactive exhibitions about the Ice Age. Yet, it is probably the stunning and tranquil backdrop of St. Lawrence’s picturesque shoreline, dotted with lighthouses, that is the biggest pull to visitors to the region. Your tour begins as you arrive to St. Amelie&rsquo;s Church which features the pink granite of Quebec&rsquo;s North Shore. &nbsp;Your guided visit offers the history of 1,500 square metres of fresco paintings, the 30 stained-glass windows representing characters from the Bible, and the magnificent Casavant organ. Your next stop includes the remarkable St. Andrew Anglican Church which was built in 1937 and was first church in the Baie-Comeau area. Admire this Tudor style structure with is imposing oak trim and lovely stained-glass windows. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; We continue on to the town&rsquo;s famous hotel, Manoir Baie-Comeau also built in 1937 the year the town was founded by Robert Rutherford McCormick. &nbsp;In 1965, the Manoir burned to the ground and the QNSL paper company rebuilt it on the same site, using stone instead of wood, and it was totally rejuvenated in 2004. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Our final spot is our visit to Place La Salle which is situated in Baie-Comeau&rsquo;s heritage area. This quaint commercial artery, full of sites of historical interest, bustles with specialty food shops, souvenir stores, art galleries, restaurants and more. You will have the choice to board the shuttle bus with guide back to the ship or stay in Place La Salle for free time.

Next, proceed to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, which houses a permanent Titanic exhibit. You will also learn about the devastating Halifax Explosion, which occurred just five years after the sinking of Titanic. Here on the Bay of Fundy, a rare phenomenon known as the Reversing Rapids occurs when high bay tides collide with the Saint John River. History is impressive, too, with Canada’s oldest continuously operating farmers’ market and oldest museum. Nearby, Irving Nature Park’s salt marshes, volcanic rock and forests are explored on winding trails.

Your excursion begins at the pier where you will board your coach and get acquainted with ther professional photographer, who will be your photography guide. You will first drive to Seeley&rsquo;s Cove Wharf, a working fishing wharf with beautiful views across the basin. After time here to capture your photos, under the guidance of a seasoned professional, you&rsquo;ll travel to Lepreau Falls, a provincial park where the Lepreau River spills over a rocky ledge into waterfalls. Some of the rocks here are as old as 300 million years and very photogenic. Your next stop will be Mill Pond Covered Bridge spanning Little Lepreau River. These unique wooden covered bridges were once an integral part of life in New Brunswick communities. Your final stop takes you to Haggerty&rsquo;s Cove Beach, a beautiful expanse of sandy beach on the coast of the Bay of Fundy. Led by a member of Saint John&rsquo;s Jewish community, enjoy an overview of Saint John&rsquo;s North End, an area closely associated with the Jewish community, which has roots in Saint John going back to the mid-1800s. Gain a deeper understanding of the local Jewish history with this visit to the Jewish Historical Museum. Founded in 1986, this is the only Jewish Museum in Atlantic Canada, and exhibits items procured mostly through donations. Learn about the Jewish community in Saint John and the Jewish culture in general with a survey of the museum&rsquo;s artifacts as well as enjoy a tour of a Hebrew classroom, the chapel and the art gallery. You will also travel to the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery, which began in 1860 as a modest family plot. Follow this with a stop at the famous Reversing Rapids at Fallsview Park to marvel at the amazing natural phenomenon.&nbsp;

The Bay of Fundy boasts the highest tides in the world and one of the earth&rsquo;s richest marine eco-systems. Learn about this fascinating system on a nature walk at the Irving Nature Park, a haven of winding roads, nature trails and rugged coastline teeming with birds, wildlife and harbor seals. Following your naturalist guide, embark on a walk that will reveal the richness of intertidal life, the flora and fauna found within an Acadian Forest, and a breathtaking coastline with a wonderful coastal habitat. During your three-mile hike, stop at a covered picnic area to enjoy a break and to soak in the scenery. You will find it hard to believe you&rsquo;re only moments from the center of town!&nbsp; This excursion also features a visit to the Reversing Falls Rapids, where the mighty Bay of Fundy meets the Saint John River, and as the tides rise, force the river to reverse direction and flow upstream. Walk alongside towering maple trees and visit a maple sugar shack as you learn all about maple sugaring. Cross the Kennebecasis River on one of the few remaining cable ferries in New Brunswick, travel through historic Kingston Corner, to Elmhurst Outdoors, a small family-run maple sugar farm. Enjoy this enlightening &ldquo;walk through time&rdquo; with your guide alongside maple trees to a present-day maple sugar shack. Informative displays will take you back in time to the beginnings of maple sugaring by native North Americans, then onward in history to the early settlers, and from there, to the mid-1900s and the present. Following your guided tour then return to the lodge for delicious home-made pancakes, sausage, baked beans, and delicious home-grown pure maple syrup. Finish off your perfect day with an age-old tradition of maple taffy on snow.&nbsp;

On arrival in St. Martins, begin your exploration of the town, which is a true photographer&rsquo;s and nature lover&rsquo;s delight. The bustling harbor boasts two covered bridges; former fishing shacks house unique gift shops; and the lighthouse, lobster traps and fishing boats create a charming scene. Following your introduction to the town and its harbor, make your way to the beach, where you will see how time and tides have carved caves into the sandstone cliffs. Comb the rocky beach for &ldquo;wish rocks,&rdquo; glimpse the sea caves under the cliffs, and tides permitting, take a closer look at these unique caverns. After a walk along the beach, pause to savor a light lunch of maritime seafood chowder at the beachside restaurant. Then, board your transport for the return drive to Saint John, where you will have the opportunity to visit the Old City Market and expereince the Reversing Rapids before arriving at your ship.
