Located in the southwest of England, Plymouth is a coastal town known for its maritime attractions and indie shopping culture. Home of the famous gin brand, its distilleries are open for tours and, after that, you can visit the city’s colorful art galleries and refined restaurants.

Begin with a panoramic sightseeing of the City of Plymouth, whose modern center results from extensive rebuilding after significant damage during the last War. The city lies between the Rivers Plym and Tamar, commanding the entrance to the English Channel with one of the finest natural harbors in the world. The city contains much history and culture, with the main historical events centered on the Barbican and Plymouth Hoe areas. You will drive around the Hoe, commanding magnificent views over Plymouth Sound, one of the finest natural harbors in the world. It was the setting for Sir Francis Drake&rsquo;s famous game of bowls. His statue bears witness to the fact and stands alongside the memorials and statues commemorating the wars and significant events of more recent years. Continue to the outskirts of the city to cross the River Tamar via the imposing Tamar Bridge into the County of Cornwall. On the opposite bank of the river, Mount Edgcumbe House can be seen nestling amongst the trees. This Tudor Mansion of the Edgcumbe family was built in 1547 but had to be restored following extensive damage caused by the blitz of 1941. You will see the large, beautifully furnished, airy rooms, where the emphasis is placed on elegance, providing a revealing insight into Grand Country house life over two hundred years ago. It is a house visited by royalty and coveted by a would-be Spanish invader, a house besieged by Roundheads, and the home of a family who has risen to the highest honors in the land. Surrounding the house are seven acres of formal gardens, a perfect foil to the rolling Parkland beyond. You will be able to enjoy views across the naval establishment at Devonport and the city of Plymouth. We then transfer the short distance to Torpoint and re-cross the River Tamar via ferry to Devonport and then into the town of Plymouth.

Mount Edgecumbe & Panoramic Plymouth

Scenic drive to the stunning Lanhydrock House, where you will gain wonderful insight into how the rich and the poor lived and survived in Victorian England. Lanhydrock is set on 900 acres of private grounds above the River Fowey. It is a substantial 16th-century manor that was devastated by fire in 1881 and later rebuilt in lavish style. A magnificent plaster ceiling in the 17th-century Long Gallery depicts Old Testament scenes. The gallery survived the fire and is well worth viewing. The highlight of this gorgeous manor house visit is the glimpse into the &#39;Upstairs/Downstairs&#39; class differentiation of Victorian England. The kitchens are particularly fascinating - complete with gadgets that were well ahead of their time 100 years ago. You will have a chance to visit approximately 50 rooms in this fascinating house. Outside, the palatial gardens are a joy to behold - English countryside at its absolute best with magnolias, rhododendrons, and camellias. Following your visit to Lanhydrock, transfer to the Cornish town of Bodmin for a traditional 3 course lunch. Short drive to Lostwithiel, one of England&#39;s most quaint riverside villages. You will have some free time here to wander among the pretty streets and shop in the quaint craft stores to pick up some lovely Cornish souvenirs before returning to your ship.

Lanhydrock House & Lostwithiel

Enjoy your short journey from Plymouth to the edges of the infamous Dartmoor National Park, where you will find The Garden House. The South Devon landscape is brought to life amongst eight acres of beautifully naturalistic planting. You will be met by the Head Gardener, who will give a brief introductory talk and then lead you around the garden on a comprehensive tour, providing insight into its philosophy and planting. The Garden House is at the forefront of a revolution in &#39;naturalistic planting&#39; - working in harmony with nature rather than against it, allowing flowers to intermingle to provide living kaleidoscopes of color. It has many main areas to explore, including the Walled Garden, Ovals Garden, the Cottage Garden, and the magnificent South African Garden. After your delightful tour, you will settle in the picturesque tearoom for a traditional Devonshire Cream Tea, complete with clotted cream, jam, scones, and a choice of tea or coffee. You are then free to explore some areas of the garden independently or peruse the gift shop for souvenirs before returning to Plymouth and your awaiting ship.

The Garden House

Travel into Dartmoor National Park, a peaceful area of outstanding beauty located to the north of Plymouth. Heather, bracken and gorse, bogs, stone walls, and granite tors are just a few of the interesting features of Dartmoor.&nbsp; Open vistas stretch across to the skyline as the road crosses undulating terrain. Pass through open countryside areas and delightful small towns as you meander quintessential English country lanes. At one of the region&#39;s local tea rooms or country hotels, you will stop to enjoy a Devonshire Cream Tea. Here in the southwest of England, Devon residents claim that all other versions of cream tea are inferior to their own. The essential ingredient is Devonshire clotted cream which comes from local Jersey cattle. The origins of clotted cream are lost in time, although monks made butter from clotted cream in the early 14th century. The cream is spread thickly on freshly baked scones, with lashings of homemade jam, a delicious treat. Ask the guide whether the cream or the jam is applied first - it&#39;s been contentious since the first cream teas were served!&nbsp; After your cream tea, this relaxing tour concludes with a gentle drive back to Plymouth and your awaiting ship.

Dartmoor National Park Panorama Drive with Devonshire Cream Tea

You will begin your walk on an undulating route northwards. You will see views behind to the Mew Stone and learn about the history of its unconventional past resident. The walk will continue to gain height and will lead you towards Fort Bovisand, where you can see views across the stunning Plymouth Sound! You will be looking for the breakwater with its fort and lighthouse in the foreground, also keep beady-eyed for the far side of Cornwall where you can see twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand. You will then be looking down from the Staddon Battery onto the Palmerston forts that were built during the Victorian period, following concerns about the strength of the French Navy in 1860. You will also be able to see the Harbour at Bovisand, both now in the hands of a charitable Trust and destined to become a tourist attraction.&nbsp; Descending from Fort Bovisand you will enter the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Here you will see the wooded fringe of the Sound and superb views showing Mount Batten and the city of Plymouth just a little further in view. As you cross the City boundary keeping to the country paths, you are wittily requested to wipe your feet before entering the city. The Fort and canon at Mount Batten is a pleasant quick excursion up onto the battlements. At the end of the visit, you will return to the Barbican area of the city by a short ferry ride where you can choose to explore Plymouth independently or return to the ship.

Enjoy a 4 miles walk along the UNESCO World Heritage Site Jurassic Coast, marveling at some beautiful views across Plymouth as you go. See stunning views such as the Mew Stone, Fort Bovisand, the stunning Plymouth Sound, the Palmerston forts, the Harbour at Bovisand, attraction, as well as the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), where you will see the wooded fringe of the Sound and superb views showing Mount Batten and the city of Plymouth just a little further in view.&nbsp;

Heybrook Bay Coastal Walk

This small port village is considered an important industrial and transport hub in Ireland, making it a perfect gateway to the vibrant city of Cork, where you can enjoy stunning coastal landscapes and famous tourist attractions such as St. Fin Barre's Cathedral, Blarney Castle or the English Market.

Departing from the pier you will travel to Kinsale, a town where the quality of the scenery itself is a very strong attraction. Upon arrival into Kinsale, visit Charles Fort, a classic example of a star-shaped fort. Constructed in the early 1680s in honor of King Charles II, Charles Fort was in use until 1921 and gives a unique insight into Irish fortifications. Besieged in 1690 by the Duke of Marlborough and destroyed in 1922 during the Civil War, it reflects the turbulence of Ireland&rsquo;s past. It was declared a National Monument in 1973. From here, travel to Kinsale town center. Kinsale is safely sheltered by the rounded contours of a beautiful harbor and is believed to have been founded by the Anglo Normans in around 1177. It was a magnificent naval base in the 17th and 18th centuries, and seemed to have enjoyed a degree of prosperity uncommon in Ireland. For centuries, it had close European connections, and in 1966 became the first town to be awarded the Flag of the Council of Europe. During your time here, you will see that Kinsale owes its unique character to the fact that it was a garrison town and port of consequence for over 300 years &ndash; hence the magnificent Georgian homes and the Dutch influence of its architecture. It was also the natural landfall for all the great sailing ships from the continent and the Americas. You will have time to walk around this beautiful town, browse in the shops, and soak up the local atmosphere before departing Kinsale for a return journey to port and your Crystal ship.

Kinsale Village & Charles Fort

Travel from the pier to Blarney Village arriving at Blarney Castle, a truly romantic ruin, dating back to 1446. Settled in a lush parkland, the castle was once a stronghold of the McCarthy clan. In some places the stone walls are over 18 feet thick, offering an impenetrable defense against invaders. Climb to the top of the castle to take in the amazing views and learn the whimsical history of the Blarney Stone. There are many versions of how the stone came to be placed in the castle, the most likely being it was brought back from the Holy Land during the crusades. Time permitting, the adventurous among you are encouraged to climb to the top of the castle to kiss the famous stone&mdash;those who do are said to be endowed with the gift of eloquence. After a visit to the castle, stroll around the pretty village and soak up the ambience of the 18th-century buildings. Walk to Christy&rsquo;s Bar or the Mills Hotel to enjoy an Irish coffee. Follow your delicious refreshment with a visit to the Blarney Woolen Mill shop, where you can browse for high-quality Irish goods, including Waterford crystal, Irish linen, hand-loomed Donegal tweed, knitwear, bone China and Celtic brooches. Board your motor coach and return to the pier and your&nbsp; ship. Please note: It is recommended that guests dress in warm, layered clothing, and wear flat, comfortable shoes. Guests should also bring raingear in case of inclement weather. Due to the popularity of Blarney Castle, wait time to kiss the Blarney Stone can exceed two hours and viewing is not guaranteed. In order to reach the Blarney Stone, guests must navigate approximately 108 steps within the castle. Additionally, rough terrain en route may be encountered. A Visit to Blarney Castle

Scenic drive from Cork to historic Waterford. Founded in 853 by Vikings, Waterford became Southern Ireland&#39;s chief seaport, enhanced in the 18th century by the city&#39;s thriving glass works. Pass Waterford&#39;s ancient, fortified walls and Reginald&#39;s Tower, originally built by Vikings during the 11th century and rebuilt into an imposing tower by Norman conquerors. Today, the restored tower is home to Waterford&#39;s city museum. Continue to the House of Waterford Crystal. Completed in 2010, the state-of-the-art center is the home of all things Waterford. Your tour begins with an audiovisual presentation that traces the history of Waterford Crystal from its founding in 1783 by brothers George and William Penrose to the present day. Discover what has made Waterford Crystal a prized possession for more than 2 centuries. See a reconstruction of the manufacturing process and get an idea of how the original factory worked - from the making of wooden molds to the artisanal glass-making process. You&rsquo;ll have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos of the craftsmen at work. Stop at the gallery showroom, where a crystal chandelier lights up a dining table laden with crystals and ceramics. There will be brief free time to browse the world&#39;s largest display of Waterford crystal, giftware, craft, and jewelry collectionsctions. Enjoy lunch at a local hotel and head to the charming heritage town of Lismore. Founded in 636 A.D. and renowned as a seat of learning, discover Lismore&rsquo;s history as you pass through this pretty town.

Waterford City & Crystal

Spend a full day exploring some of Ireland&#39;s most treasured landmarks, as well as enjoying a drive through magnificent countryside. Your guide and motor-coach driver will meet you at the port, and once everyone is on board you will head out from Cobh, passing small farms and small villages, enroute to Kenmare, County Kerry. Here you will enjoy free time to explore. Continue drive to Killarney National Park, which boasts stunning views of the tree-lined lakes, against a backdrop of mountain peaks. Enjoy free time and exploration in the beautiful Muckross and Killarney, where you will have the opportunity to photograph the glorious Muckross House, a 19th-century manor house that boasts a superb rhododendron garden and sunken garden. Originally a private estate, the house was presented to the Irish government in 1932 and is renowned for its gorgeous views of the second largest of the Killarney Lakes. You will have time for a short walk through the gardens. Afterwards you will be taken to the center of Killarney town where you will stop for a delicious 2-course lunch in a local restaurant before having some free time to independently explore the town itself. Then stretch your legs as you browse the many quaint shops in Killarney town. Your return journey back to Cobh will allow you some time to relax and enjoy the passing scenery as you think back on your time in Co. Kerry. Please note: There is no inside visit to Muckross House included in this tour. Guests who wish to enter the house may do so at their own cost during the free time. Photography is not permitted in Muckross House. &nbsp;Wheelchairs (collapsible or electric) will not be permitted.&nbsp;

Scenic Killarney 

Board your motor coach for the short drive to Cork, the second largest city in the Republic of Ireland.&nbsp; Founded by St. Finbarr in the 7th century, Cork was an important Viking port. The river Lee flows around the heart of the city.&nbsp; Travel through the city on a short, narrated drive past Merchant&#39;s Quay, St. Patrick&#39;s Street, Grand Parade, the Mall, and City Hall as the guide points out the city&#39;s elegant Georgian architecture.&nbsp; St Patrick&#39;s Street is the city&#39;s main boulevard, with South Mall and Grand Parade home to Irish companies and financial institutions. Travel onto Midleton and the Jameson Distillery. Distilling was already a centuries-old tradition in Ireland when in the 17th century, the British imposed licensing laws, closing small distillers.&nbsp; Take a behind-the-scenes tour that includes the lesser seen buildings on the site, such as the Distiller&#39;s Cottage, Cooperage, and the Micro Distillery.&nbsp; Taste 3 different premium whiskey samples (Redbreast 12, Coopers Croze, and Midleton Very Rare) and a glass of Jameson Original or Jameson Ginger and Lime in the bar afterward.&nbsp; Browse the gift shop for Jameson memorabilia before returning to the pier. Guests must abide by local laws regarding alcohol consumption. Please note: Wheelchairs need to be standard size and collapsible. Guests must be able to board and disembark the motor coach on their own. Guests in wheelchairs will not be able to experience the Micro Distillery part of this tour; as standing and stairs are required to access this area.

Behind the Scenes of Jameson Midleton Distillery

At the heart of Holyhead is St. Cybi`s Church, situated inside one of Europe`s only three-walled Roman forts. Indeed, local history stretches back to Roman and Prehistoric times. Explore maritime history at a museum highlighting the 100 or so shipwrecks that have occurred in the vicinity, or make the trek to the South Stack Lighthouse, which stands guard over an area popular with birdwatchers.

Boarding your motor coach at the pier, relax during your scenic travels across the Isle of Anglesey and the Menai Strait toward Snowdonia. Views of the national parks of England and Wales, encompassing some 823 square miles, will unfold before you, revealing some of the most beautiful and unspoiled landscapes in Wales. A highlight of your journey is a stop in Llanberis. With two lakes surrounded by mountains and a medieval castle among its attractions, it is easy to see why this national park is one of the region&rsquo;s most popular. An interesting side note: This area was once home to Dinorwig Slate Quarries, which employed more than 3,000 workers. Explore the footpaths created over the years by the quarrymen as they walked to and from their work. Set back from the lake, Llanberis High Street is lined with a variety of shops, caf&eacute;s, and restaurants, which you may experience during approximately 30 minutes of free time. Next, journey to Portmerion where en route, you will travel through undeveloped woodland areas, as the site chosen for the building of Portmerion was selected to represent Wales&rsquo; unspoiled beauty. The village dates to 1925 and has been a premier destination ever since, with visitors enticed by stunning lakes, miles of sandy beaches, and 70 acres of subtropical woodland gardens. Enjoy a walking tour through the enchanting Italianate style village of Portmerion before continuing for lunch at Castell Deudraeth. Following lunch, rejoin your motor coach and return to your Crystal ship.

Located on its own private peninsula on the southern shores of Snowdonia, Portmerion is unique for its beautiful setting and thoughtful design, created by Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis to demonstrate how a town could be developed without spoiling its natural surroundings. Venture with us to this exemplary village, enjoying a stop at the mountain resort of Llanberis along the way and lunch in a historic setting at Castell Deudraeth.

Portmerion & Snowdonia Panorama

Traveling by motor coach, enjoy the approximately 45-minute journey to the massive castle and begin your discovery of an estate full of fascinating features. You will appreciate hand-made wallpapers, carved grotesques, exquisite stained glass, and walls adorned with impressive paintings by Rembrandt, Canaletto, Gainsborough and Richard Wilson. Your visit will also reveal the extraordinarily grand staircase, incredible Norman furniture, and an extravagantly carved stone interior that creates a cathedral-like atmosphere. Yet another highlight is a great bed made of slate crafted for a visit by Queen Victoria. Outside of the castle, take in the views across the surrounding parkland and to the mountains and the Menai Strait beyond. Board your motor coach and enjoy the scenery as you venture across Anglesey en route to the pier and your Crystal ship.&nbsp;

Dramatically situated between Snowdonia and the Menai Strait, the enormous Penrhyn Castle was built between 1820 and 1845 by the Second Lord Penrhyn. Enjoy a visit to this early Victorian castle, boasting fixtures and ornamentation that can be described as opulent and ostentatious.

Penrhyn Castle

Travel through the picturesque rural landscapes, and then along the east coast, catching glimpses of long, sandy beaches and small harbors. One of these is Red Wharf Bay, a shallow bay where low tide reveals almost ten square miles of sand. Anglesey is separated from the mainland by the 15-mile-long Menai Strait, which you will have a chance to see as your motor coach takes you alongside the tree-lined roadway that borders the waterway. You&rsquo;ll stop to savor a lovely Welsh tea, which will include succulent slices of bara brith, the famous 'speckled bread' of Wales. Fashioned from an old family recipe, sweetened with sugar, and made all the more delectable with raisins and currants, bara brith is a truly special treat. Having enjoyed a tea evocative of bygone days, return to the pier and your Crystal ship, enjoying more countryside views along the way.

Today&#39;s excursion will be a treat for both the eye and palate as you enjoy a drive along the quiet rural roads of Anglesey Island and stop to savor a traditional Welsh tea.

Rural Anglesey & Welsh Tea

Your journey by motor coach takes you across the island of Anglesey and the Menai Strait via the imposing Britannia Bridge. Enjoy fine coastal views as the main road sweeps past the resort towns of North Wales. Soon, you will arrive in Llandudno. Situated between the Great and Little Orme headlands, Llandudno boasts two wonderful beaches and a Victorian/Edwardian elegance that speaks to a bygone era. Another of Llandudno&rsquo;s charms is the Great Orme Tramway, which has been enchanting visitors since it opened in 1902. An engineering marvel of its time, it is still the only cable-hauled tramway operating on British public roads. At the Halfway Station exhibition, you will encounter this fascinating funicular tramway and thrill to a spectacular, up and downhill ride, a trip of approximately 25 minutes each way. The original tramcars, each named after a saint, were well used over 100 years ago and considered a practical way to get around. Recently, the entire tramway has been restored, readying it for another century of service. In addition to enjoying a peek into the past, you will admire glorious panoramas from the 679-foot Great Orme summit, encompassing views from Snowdonia and Anglesey, all the way to the Isle of Man, Blackpool, and the Lake District. Take advantage of free time to stroll along the promenade or explore some of Llandudno&rsquo;s quaint shops before returning to the pier and your Crystal ship.

Travel to beautifully located Llandudno, Wales&rsquo; largest resort, for a memorable ride on a restored cable tramway and free time to discover the charms of this lovely beachside destination.

Llandudno & The Victorian Tramway

Caernarfon is one of the historic centers of Wales. It&rsquo;s past is enshrined in legend when, just over 700 years ago, an English king chose it to be the seat of a new administration and gave it new fame as the cradle of a line of English princes. King Edward I began to build the castle and walled town of Caernarfon in 1283. Edward&rsquo;s son, the future King Edward II, was born in April 1284 within the precincts of Caernarfon Castle and, according to legend, presented to the people of Wales as their prince. In 1301 he was formally created the first English Prince of Wales and was endowed with the rule and revenue of the Crown&rsquo;s Welsh lands. From that time on the eldest son of the sovereign has customarily become &lsquo;Prince of Wales&rsquo;. On 1st July, 1969, almost seven centuries later, Prince Charles was formally invested at Caernarfon by his mother Queen Elizabeth II as the 21st Prince of Wales.&nbsp; Caernarfon Castle is considred as one of the most impressive of all the castles built by Edward I - its majestic walls may well have been modelled on those of Constantinople. The castle must be capable, when occasion required, of adequately accommodating the household of the monarch&rsquo;s eldest son, with his council, family, guests and all who attended them. Arguably the finest castle in Britain, it is a narrow-waisted enclosure incorporating in the upper bailey the remains of an 11th century motte. There are two main gatehouses, and though the Queen&rsquo;s Gate was never completed, the King&rsquo;s Gate has been cited as the supreme British example of the immense strength of medieval fortification.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Built for King Edward I and the site of the Prince Charles&rsquo; investiture, this supremely imposing 13th century fortress is arguably the finest castle in Britain.&nbsp;

Caernarfon Castle

Travel across the island of Anglesey with its landscapes of meadows, farmland, and low-lying hills, over the Menai Strait via the Britannia Bridge, and through the countryside toward Beddgelert, one of the prettiest villages in Wales.&nbsp; Continue to Porthmadog, an attractive and bustling town situated on an inlet of Tremadoc Bay, offering views across the bay to the mountains of Snowdonia. Before boarding the train, take the chance to stroll along the main street and browse the town&#39;s array of small specialty shops. &nbsp; &nbsp; Next, board the Ffestiniog Railway, Wales&#39;s oldest narrow gauge railway. Completed in 1836, the railway brought slate from the quarries of Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog for shipment. &nbsp; Your approximately 1hour and 15 minutes rail ride reveals superb scenery as you travel along the same route as the original railway. At Dduallt, look out for the section of the line called The Spiral, the only one in Great Britain; the railway crosses over itself to gain height. This spiral and the Moelwyn Tunnel represent Europe&#39;s largest civil engineering project ever untaken by predominantly volunteer labor. The train puffs slowly up the steep gradients affording fine views across mountains and valleys as it makes its way to the terminus of Blaenau Ffestiniog.&nbsp; On arrival at Blaenau Ffestiniog, rejoin your waiting motor coach and continue through the delightful Vale of Ffestiniog. The steep wooded hillsides rise to granite outcrops as the road twists and turns, following the river&#39;s shores. In the charming village of Betws-y-Coed, enjoy lunch at a local hotel. &nbsp; &nbsp; Your excursion drawing to a close, savor the views of the scenic Welsh landscape back to Holyhead pier.

Travel across Anglesey&#39;s picturesque landscapes to Beddgelert, one of Wales&#39; prettiest villages. Board the Ffestiniog Railway for a scenic journey through Snowdonia, and enjoy lunch in Betws-y-Coed before returning to Holyhead pier.

Narrow Gauge Railway & Welsh Countryside

Tucked between Ireland and England lies the little known (and even lesser visited) Isle of Man. Don’t be surprised if you have not heard of this little island – with a population of less than 85,000, this stunning maritime jewel nestled within the Irish Sea heaves is fairly far off the beaten track. The Isle of Man’s picturesque capital, Douglas, offers visitors a nostalgic link to the past, so enjoy its seamless blend of history, culture, and coastal allure. From its seafront promenade to the historic architecture that graces its streets, Douglas offers a captivating glimpse into the island's character, and no one can be dispointed with the stunningly pretty harbor that pulses with life with fishing boats and yachts comfortably coexisting or the authentic Horse Tramway, where visitors to the island can take a leisurely ride along the coast. As you wander the streets, the presence of the Isle of Man's rich history envelops you. Explore the Manx Museum, where artifacts and exhibits unveil tales of ancient Celts, Vikings, and more.

Starting from the sea terminal in Douglas, we cross the Fairy Bridge and give a greeting to the &#39;little people&#39; to ensure a good journey. After a comfort break in Castletown, we visit Chapel Hill Balladoole and then follow part of the &#39;Raad ny Foillan&#39; - the Way of the Gull - the Isle of Man&#39;s long-distance coastal footpath around Scarlett Head to see coastal birds, plants, limestone outcrops and volcanic rocks and back to Castletown. The exposed southern coast here is full of historical sites. There are traces of ancient forts and chapels, countryside properties and farms, a WWII radar station, and the quarry which provided stone for the steps of St Paul&rsquo;s Cathedral in London. The historical highlights of the tour are Chapel Hill, Balladoole (home to a Bronze Age burial, an Iron Age hillfort, a Viking ship burial, and Keeill Vael - St. Michael&#39;s Chapel), which has extensive views over the south of the Island and the Iron Age and Norse promontory fort at Close ny Chollagh. After a break in Castletown, we rejoin the coach and return to Douglas on a route that gives views over &#39;the Plains of Heaven&#39; across the central valley to the northern hills.

Enjoy a fantastic walk of the coastal footpath seeing coastal birds, plants and volcanic rocks as well as many historical highlights.

Viking & Volcanoes Hike

Departing Douglas and heading south, you will come to the Fairy Bridge and give a greeting to the &lsquo;little people&rsquo; to ensure a good journey. Your travels most certainly will be scenic as you venture to Cregneash, a working heritage village that brings to life the culture of the local Manx people. Annual festivals, a flock of rare four-horned sheep, original Manx cottages, and displays of Victorian farming and fishing equipment reveal a lifestyle of the past, preserved and revered for the visitors of today. During your village visit, you will experience its folk museum, where you will witness traditional skills demonstrated by artisans and workers dressed in period clothing. You may even catch a glimpse of the resident Manx Cat. Leaving this charming village, we make the short transfer to The Sund. Located at the Island&#39;s very southern tip, the Sound is one of the most scenic places in the British Isles. Abundant with wildlife and natural wonders, this area is a hotspot for seals sunbathing on Kitterland, a small rocky islet. The area is also frequented by dolphins and basking sharks, and the swirling tidal races are popular with adventurous kayakers. Our journey continues inland to admire vistas of picturesque river glens, wild heather-covered moors, colorful wildflowers, and hillsides bearing the slate used for the making of field walls and farm buildings. You will travel along the Plains of Heaven, aptly named for the Island&rsquo;s superb scenery. A circular route takes you past villages with cozy homes and gardens bursting with summer color before returning you to Douglas and your ship.

Begin your excursion with a stop at Tynwald Hill, a hill/artificial mound named for the Viking-established Manx parliament known as Tynwald. Today, this self-governing practice system is still in place, making it the oldest continuous parliament in the world. As you will learn during your photo stop, Tynwald Hill serves as a ceremony site for the observances held every July 5th, the island&#39;s national day known as Tynwald Day. In addition, it is said that the mound includes soil from all 17 of the island&#39;s parishes, making the spot ideal for the annual festivities, which include the swearing-in of public officials and proclamations of new laws.&nbsp; Walk around the small hill and then make your way to the City of Peel &ndash; the only city on the Island courtesy of St German Cathedral. Located on the island&#39;s west coast and known fondly by the islanders as 'Sunset City,' the village is dominated by the ruins of an ancient Celtic cathedral and the pink sandstone walls of the castle, which dates from the 14th century.&nbsp; Also located here is an award-winning, multi-million-pound heritage interactive Museum and Visitor Center - the House of Manannan (the island&#39;s mythological God of the Sea). Built in 1997, the stunning site will take you back to the Viking and Celtic heritage, which is firmly embedded on the island and encompasses the old Peel Railway Station. Your delight in visiting the center will be real as you are guided through the island&#39;s rich Celtic, Viking, and maritime past. Exhibit highlights include a Celtic roundhouse and a replica of a Norse longship. Adding to the experience are audio and video components, bringing to life old Pagan traditions and demonstrating how the people of the past lived, farmed, sailed, and spoke. Manx Electric Railway & Laxey Wheel

Boarding your coach, you will travel to Douglas Station where you will board a car of the 125-year-old steam train. Still utilizing much of the original rolling stock, the train features engines that first worked the line in the 1890s. Sit back, relax and take in impressive views over the countryside as you travel by train to Port Erin. Arriving in the village of Port Erin you will then travel north to Peel enjoying wonderful views of the island along the way. In Peel, enjoy some free time to explore at your leisure &ndash; maybe visit the Kipper Museum and learn how the Isle of Man&rsquo;s famous smoked kipper is made or walk around the magnificent Peel Castle which sits on St Patrick&rsquo;s Isle and guards the entrance to the harbor. Board your motor coach for the journey from Peel back to Douglas, passing the ancient Viking meeting place of Tynwald Hill along the way. On arrival at the sea terminal, reboard your ship.&nbsp;

Your transfer from the pier brings you first to Castletown. &nbsp;With origins tracing back to 1090, Castletown is one of the oldest towns in the British Isles. As its name suggests, Castletown boasts a castle, called Castle Rushen. Believed to have been built around 1200, the fortification is one of the British Isles&rsquo; best examples of a medieval castle and has weathered years of royal use and many historic skirmishes, including a siege by Robert the Bruce in 1313. You make the short transfer from Castletown to Rushen Abbey which was created when King Olaf I gave land for the abbey to be built &ndash; people have been drawn to visit ever since. &nbsp;Originally a home for the monks of the Sauvignac Order, Rushen Abbey came under Cistercian control and was developed as the Isle of Man&rsquo;s seat of religious power housing the main body of knowledge and literacy for the Island. Stroll through the Abbey Gardens to view the remains of substantial medieval buildings, blossom trees, and an array of herbs and flowers &ndash; many of which are used to cure common ailments. &nbsp;You can follow the footpath beyond the abbey to the 14th century 'Monk&rsquo;s Bridge' in the nearby Silverdale Glen. Your time travels continue with a transfer to Castletown&rsquo;s train station, where you will board a car of the 125-year-old railway. Still utilizing much of the original rolling stock, the train service features engines that first worked the line in the 1890s. Sit back, relax, and take in impressive views over the countryside as you return by train to Douglas. On arrival at Douglas Station, your motor coach will transfer you back to the ship.

A journey back in time, this excursion showcases the attractions of the southern part of the Island with an exploration of the medieval Castle Rushen, a visit to Rushen Abbey, built 900 years ago, and a ride on the 125-year-old Victorian railway.

The town of Londonderry, or Derry, is the only remaining fortified city in Ireland, making its walls one of its main attractions. Captivating art and rich gastronomy are also top of the list in this charming town, where you can see the incredible murals of the outdoor People’s Gallery and taste fresh local products.

After departing from the ship, you will drive via coach along the scenic Causeway Road, an epic stretch of coastal highway offering some of the most beautiful vistas in Ireland. Soon arrive at the Giant&rsquo;s Causeway, an area of more than 40,000 black basalt columns formed by volcanic activity 50-60 million years ago. According to legend, giants strode across the columns over the sea from Scotland, giving way to the causeway&rsquo;s name. After browsing the informative exhibits in the Visitor&rsquo;s Center, you&rsquo;ll board a shuttle bus for the short drive out to the columns. These columns are so uniformly shaped and a geological occurrence so unusual, that the columns have been deemed a UNESCO World Heritage site. You are sure to find Giant&rsquo;s Causeway intriguing and well worth exploring. After your visit and head to a local lunch venue and enjoy a 2-course lunch including a drink of choice. Finish up and journey to Dunluce Castle. Visit these castle ruins, once the headquarters of the MacDonnell clan, the castle was abandoned after part of it fell into the sea during a violent storm in 1639. Recent excavations have also revealed the remains of an adjacent town from that period. Afterwards, you will return to your coach and begin drive back to the pier.

Take a short walk on the part of the ramparts. Derry&#39;s Fortress Walls have been exceptionally well-preserved over the centuries and are one of the best examples of city walls in Europe. Their historical and architectural significance led to their recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019. Finally, the Mayor of Derry will welcome you to the Guildhall, a fine late Gothic administrative building with 23 magnificent stained-glass windows that recount the history of the city from its earliest times to the very recent past, a snapshot of Irish and British history in the early twentieth century. Enjoy a wine reception before returning to the pier.

The fine setting of Glenveagh Castle, standing atop a slight promontory overlooking Lough Veagh, is a 19th-century castellated mansion built between 1867 and 1873. The Victorian idyll of a romantic highland retreat inspired its construction in a remote mountain setting. Mr. Henry McIlhenny from Philadelphia, USA, was the last private owner, who in 1981 presented Glenveagh Castle to the Irish nation. Enjoy an outside visit to Glenveagh Castle and some free time to discover the gardens. The two significant elements of the garden, the Pleasure Gardens and the Walled Garden were constructed in the late 1880s. The original Victorian Garden layout remains intact. From the late 1950s through to the early 1980s, the design and layout of the garden were developed to include the Gothic Orangery, the Italian Terrace, the Tuscan Garden, and the development of the plant collection.

On this half-day excursion, visit Glenveagh Castle. Built by Captain John George Adair between 1867 and 1873, it is located within the boundaries of Glenveagh National Park in Country Dongal, Ireland. Guests will enjoy an outside visit of the castle with free time to explore its beautiful gardens.
