Benoa in Bali, gateway to the capital Denpasar, is the departure point for this tropical tour taking in three countries – Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand. Get into the rhythm of life on the ocean with a day sailing the high seas to Semarang in Java. Uncover the legacy of the Dutch at Gereja Blenduk church, with its distinct copper dome, and the Chinese influence at the Sam Poo Kong temple, founded by the 16th-century Chinese explorer Zheng Ho. Another day at sea brings us to Singapore, where we stay the night. Sample spicy delights at the hawker stalls and admire some of the 1.5 million plants gathered from almost every continent at Gardens By The Bay – despite the futuristic skyline, this is the greenest city in Asia. Kick back as we make our way to lively Ko Samui, Thailand’s second-biggest island. Kayak around the karsts in Ang Thong National Marine Park – or just find a spot on the beach and lie back. Our final port is Laem Chabang, close to the capital, Bangkok.

Located on the north coast of the island of Java, Indonesia, Semarang is the capital of its province, playing a prominent role as both busy commercial center and important cultural destination. The lowlands are characterized by offices, business centers and industrial estates, while up in the hills are houses with lovely gardens and superb views. The city's current vibrancy could perhaps have been predicted, as Semarang has been a bustling trading center since the Dutch colonial era, when the Dutch East Indies Company established tobacco plantations and built infrastructure such as roads and railroads. The Dutch influence can still be seen in the older part of the city near the harbor. Other cultures, primarily that of the Chinese, also have left their imprint on Semarang and continue to be a significant part of what it is to live in and visit Java.
